John and Lori Thomason are the new owners of Nicky's Steakhouse Restaurant and Lounge.

Both born and raised in Colorado, they recently made Estes Park their permanent home, as they have both enjoyed a lifetime of family memories in our beautiful town.

After closing their restaurant/steakhouse in OshKosh, Nebraska, they wanted to bring what they were doing in a small restaurant to a bigger audience. John is an Executive Chef, trained in Denver and Massachusetts. He specializes in seafood, steaks, burgers and prime rib. He will be bringing superior quality steaks and seafood to Estes Park, with the ability to prepare the orders with savory satisfaction in mind.

John and Lori look forward to continuing the historical tradition of Nicky's Steakhouse, and to continue the quality and service that Nicky and his staff have always offered their guests. They strive to maintain what Nicky has built, and to "spring forward" superior quality dishes as well as enhanced ambiance and atmosphere. John will be bringing new menu items, as well as keeping the favorite dishes and recipes that Nicky's customers love.

John has worked as a chef for the major portion of his adult life. He also has opened two of his own restaurants, and three for other proprietors over the course of the years. John was also a major cattle producer in the Sandhills of Nebraska for 15 years, and knows how to buy and prepare the finest cuts of beef, lamb and pork.

Nicky's Steakhouse Restaurant and Lounge is already a historical staple in Estes Park. Nicky himself opened this restaurant in 1967. (The same year John was born!). As the new owners, they will bring the freshest and highest quality seafood to Estes Park. They will also be bringing the finest choices in USDA Prime beef, superior grade with amazing tenderness, juiciness, flavor and fine texture.

Lori said, “Nicky's Steakhouse is such a beautiful restaurant with open, comfortable dining areas. All of our patrons are able to dine while enjoying the majestic mountain and river views. We have family friendly areas, in addition to our quiet romantic dining areas. During the summer, we are also able to seat our guests on our deck above the river, or on our riverside patio.”

At Nicky’s, John and Lori hope to mesh the historical significance of the original Nicky's with a fresh look and superior quality food options. John said, “We want to enhance the beautiful ambiance, while keeping the character of the original Nicky's restaurant. We value our local residents and want to make sure that they feel appreciated and respected as our loyal customers. We hope to offer exciting new experiences that locals and visitors can enjoy. We plan to bring live acoustic music to our deck and patio area during the summer time.”

John added, “We have a genuine love for the area and its residents, both the permanent ones as well as the visiting guests. Please come in and introduce yourselves to us, we are excited to meet you and hear your valued opinions of what makes Nicky's your favorite Estes Park restaurant!”

Nicky’s Steakhouse Restaurant and Lounge is located at 1350 Fall River Road, (970) 586-5376.
