Weigh In On Proposed Changes To Brewery, Winery And Distillery Regulations
Colorado has gained notoriety for an abundance of craft breweries, particularly along the Front Range. In an effort to respond to industry standards and best practices, the Town of Estes Park is considering amendments to the Estes Valley Development Code to allow for greater flexibility is operating breweries, wineries and distilleries. Community members are encouraged to attend one of two public forums preceding these changes. Both sessions will take place on Wednesday, March 26, in Room 202 of Town Hall, 170 MacGregor Avenue. The first session begins at 12 p.m. and the second begins at 5:30 p.m. Staff will provide information on the current regulations and what changes are being considered, and allow time for participants to provide input and ask questions.
Current local regulations require that breweries, wineries and distilleries operate as an accessory use to a restaurant, meaning that the restaurant is the primary function of the business. The Town is considering code amendments to allow for micro-breweries, micro-wineries and micro-distilleries to operate independent of a restaurant function.
