Volunteers Needed To Help At Winter Festival

The 4th Annual Estes Park Winter Festival is coming up January 18-21, 2013. This festival has been incredibly popular in past years and we are relying on the entire Estes Park community to help make the Festival a continuing success. The main goal of the Festival is to promote Estes Park as a winter vacation destination, while building community.

The Estes Park Winter Festival is a volunteer-run festival that donates proceeds to local nonprofit organizations. In 2012, donations were made to The Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center, Lions Club, Estes Park Medical Center Foundation and EP High School Family, Community and Career leaders of America. A donation is always given to the non-profit organization that provides the most volunteer hours to the Festival.

How Can You Get Involved?

Cook Chili!

Cook in the Cook-Off on Sunday – Anyone can participate in the Chili and Mac ‘n Cheese Cook-offs. It’s great fun for individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations. We have several categories to choose from, with great prizes in each. Please visit our website for more details under “Get Involved.” Check out

We have over 60, six-gallon chili pots with lids to loan out, so please email the Festival if you would like to borrow one.

We have many volunteer opportunities available for Saturday and Sunday (January 19 and 20).

The fun includes: Set-up, break-down, serving chili, helping with parking, keeping the festival grounds clean, refilling water jugs, replenishing supplies, helping with children’s games, etc. Please let us know if you have a preference for jobs; specifically if you prefer inside or outside or if you’d like to move around and do both.

We have four shifts per day: 8:00-11:00, 10:30-1:30, 1:00-4:00 and 3:30-6:30. Please let us know your preference(s). We will try to accommodate to the best of our ability. The festival is 11:00-5:00 Saturday and Sunday.

You have the choice of volunteering a three hour shift and having free admission for the rest of that day, or working six hours in one day and getting free admission on the other day, or you can volunteer two half days and get free admission each day. Admission includes chili, mac ‘n cheese and wine/beer tasting (value $40).

Please contact Rhonda Mickelson via email at with your name, phone number, email address, non-profit group (if applicable), shift and task request. A confirmation email will be sent upon receipt of your information. You can also sign-up on our website under “Get Involved.”
