Volunteers Needed For Estes Park Marathon Weekend June 13 & 14

marathon

The Estes Park Marathon is one week sooner than the usual Father’s Day weekend, which we hope will be more inviting for volunteers to participate. The Estes Park Marathon is celebrating its 6th year and continuing to build as an established local event and fundraiser. We could not be a successful event without our local volunteer support. The overwhelming feedback from race participants includes our successful race course organization and how friendly our volunteers are throughout the race weekend. The Estes Park Marathon race committee would like to thank our dedicated volunteers and invite additional supporters to join our event for 2009.

Race volunteers are needed for both Saturday, June 13th, Kid’s Fun Run! and Sunday, June 14th, for the longer races. There are a variety of positions needed to be fulfilled, which include road marshalls, registration, start lines, finish line, sweepers, post-race food distribution and clean up. Volunteer hours are flexible.

Please contact Director of Volunteers, Janet Bielmaier, at 970-215-9450 to sign up as a volunteer or go to our website,   www.epmarathon.org for information.

The Estes Park Marathon is designed to provide events for all abilities. Race events include the marathon, half marathon, 10k, 5k, Kid’s Fun Run!, and marathon team relay.

The Kid’s Fun Run! will again be held at Bond Park and kick-off the race weekend. The Kid’s Fun Run! registration begins at noon and races start at 2:00 p.m. Before and after the kids runs, interactive games will be provided by the YMCA of the Rockie, educational activities by regional environmental supporters and live music performed by Tamba!, a middle school performance band from Kutandara Center in Boulder.

This year the Estes Park Marathon is introducing an important event to its race day agenda- Marathon Team Relay. The five person team will compete on our established marathon course route and fundraise for the local Relay For Life. Entry fees will go towards Estes Valley youth programs and donations will go towards cancer research through Relay for Life.

Please visit our website which can be found at www.epmarathon.org for more race information and sponsorship opportunities. We look forward to hearing from you!
