Veteran’s Day Service This Sunday At Estes Valley Memorial Gardens
The program will begin with a Prelude On The Bagpipes by Jim Thompson, piper, followed by the Presentation Of The Colors by the Color Guard of the Joseph J. Duncan, Jr. Post 119 of the American Legion, commanded by Richard Oversteg and an Honor Guard of members of Scout Troop 8 of Estes Park. “To The Colors” will be then be played by Lt. Col. Loren Johnson, USAF, (Ret.)
“Welcome & Pledge Of Allegiance” will be given by Pat Newsom, President Estes Valley Memorial Gardens and then the Invocation will be given by Rev. Peter Vanderveen, Presbyterian Clergy, (Ret.).
“America The Beautiful” will be sung by Larry Pierce followed by “Remarks And Reflections” by Laverne Mertz, U.S. Navy Veteran who served at the Battle Of Iwo Jima, WWII and member of Northern Colorado Honor Flight.
“God Bless America” will be sung by Larry Pierce and then “Changing Times” will be given by Richard Oversteg, Commander, Joseph J. Duncan, Jr. Post 119 of the American Legion.
Benediction will be recited by Rev. Peter Vanderveen followed by a Rifle Salute by the American Legion Color Guard commanded by Richard Oversteg along with members D.J. Weber, Sharyn Gartner, Jeff Van Bogaert, Ralph Walls and Brendyn Swan. Taps will be played by Lt. Col. Loren Johnson with Finale on the Bagpipes by Jim Thompson, Piper. Estes Valley Memorial Gardens is located at 1672 Fish Hatchery Road. Service personnel are encouraged to wear their uniforms.
