Urges Participation In EPURA Meeting

To the Editor:

On April 15th at 9:00 a.m. in the Municipal Building board room members of the governing Boards for each of the local taxing districts will be meeting to discuss the re-authorization of the Urban Renewal Authority (EPURA). This meeting is being hosted by the Town Trustees and it is open to the public.

There are many pros and cons associated with urban renewal authorities and I urge the community to become familiar with each of them. I also encourage each of these taxing entity Boards to ask the Town Trustees to publicly provide the specific results of an independent forensic audit of the town’s accounting & financial records for the last ten years before agreeing to any support the town trustees might seek in this regard. The monetary return on the school district’s investment in an independent forensic audit was 4 to 1. That is to say for every dollar spent, four were restored to the school district.
