Town Terminates Contract To Purchase Kiowa Ridge Land

By: Kate Rusch
Public Information Officer

The Town of Estes Park is terminating a contract to purchase two parcels of land in the Kiowa Ridge subdivision, due to unforeseen title issues. One parcel houses a Town-owned water distribution tank. The other parcel is 7.96 acres of open space and wetlands along Highway 7. The Town Board approved the purchase for $50,000 at its May 8 meeting.

The Town intended to purchase the water tank parcel so that it could make security improvements. For the open space parcel along Highway 7, the Town intended to improve the area for safe wildlife viewing and eventually use a portion of the land to expand the trail system in the Estes Valley. Although the Town will not proceed with purchasing the land at this time, the open space is, and will continue to be, protected under a conservation easement.
