By: Kate Rusch Public Information Officer

Virginia Drive, Park Lane and MacGregor Avenue expected to be complete May 23

The Town of Estes Park and contractor Coulson Excavating are on schedule for the Virginia Drive, Park Lane and MacGregor Avenue project. Weather permitting, work should be complete by approximately May 23. The project includes water main replacement and road reconstruction along Virginia Drive, as well as curb, gutter and sidewalk improvements and pavement overlays on Park Lane and MacGregor Avenue between Park Lane and Wonderview Avenue. Adjacent businesses remain open and pedestrian access is maintained throughout the project. Pedestrians and motorists should watch construction signage for detour and closure information.

Crews have tied in a new water main on Virginia Drive and have reopened the lower portion of the road to traffic. More concrete work on Virginia Drive curb, gutter and sidewalk will take place through this week, with paving of the road scheduled for approximately May 16-19, weather permitting. Crews will wrap up all work the following week and Virginia Drive is expected to reopen to through traffic by approximately May 23, weather permitting.

Paving along Park Lane and MacGregor Avenue to Wonderview Avenue is scheduled for May 16 through 23. Two- way traffic will be maintained with flagging. Motorists may experience delays of about 15 minutes or may use detours. Parking spaces along Park Lane and MacGregor Avenue to Wonderview Avenue will be closed while the adjacent lane of traffic is paved. Access to the Town Hall parking lot and the First National Bank parking lot will be maintained, but delays are possible. Both roads are scheduled to reopen to through traffic by approximately May 23, weather permitting. Lower MacGregor Avenue adjacent to Town Hall remains open to traffic.

Steamer Drive work scheduled May 21 through June 1

Concrete curb and gutter improvements on Steamer Drive near Big Thompson Avenue and the entrance to Stanley Village are expected to begin during the week of May 21. Paving of Steamer Drive is expected to begin approximately May 23, with project completion by approximately June 1. Two-way traffic will be maintained with flagging. Motorists should watch construction signage and drive carefully through the construction zone.

Wiest Parking Lot retaining wall rehabilitation

The Town of Estes Park and contractor Cornerstone Concrete, Inc. will rehabilitate a retaining wall located north of the Wiest public restroom in the Wiest parking lot, and behind a commercial property at 157 Moraine Avenue. The old wall will be replaced with a block stepped retaining wall with planters, new sidewalk and black fencing. Some modifications to the adjacent parking lot stalls will be necessary. During construction, from approximately May 14 – June 11, approximately 10-12 parking stalls will be unavailable and partial sidewalk closures will be necessary.

Restriping of curbs and streets takes place through Memorial Day

A contractor for the Town will restripe curbs and Town-owned streets throughout Estes Park. This work is scheduled to take place beginning the week of May 14 through approximately May 25. Motorists may encounter moving lane closures during this project.
