Town Breaks Ground On Multi-Purpose Event Center And Stall Barn June 6
The community is invited to join the Mayor and Town Trustees, staff, contractors and community partners as they break ground on the new multi-purpose event center (MPEC) and stall barn facilities at the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park. The ground-breaking ceremony will take place Thursday, June 6, at 1 p.m., on the west edge of the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park, 1209 Manford Ave. The facilities are expected to be complete by spring of 2014.
The MPEC will be heavily utilized for horse stalls, fulfilling a critical need to sustain the current equestrian events at the Fairgrounds and attract new events. The stalls may be removed to allow for a large open floor space suitable for large-scale events. Marketing of the MPEC begins this year, and the facility will supplement the Estes Park Conference Center to increase the number of conference groups that visit Estes Park and support its businesses.
Town Administrator Frank Lancaster noted, “This facility will be a great addition to our community and allow us to welcome events, trade shows and conferences that we haven’t been able to host in the past.” Lancaster describes Estes Park’s future MPEC to a slightly smaller version of the First National Exhibition Hall at The Ranch in Loveland.
Adjacent to the MPEC will be a new stall barn. With 100 stalls, the barn will replace aging barns located at the southeast corner of the fairgrounds. The old barns pose a safety risk and new barns ensure the Town can continue to serve equestrian events.
