Torres Family Thanks Community
Lexis and I wanted to thank you for all the cards, calls, casseroles, gifts, donations, thoughts and prayers. What a wonderful community to be a part of. The support we have received has helped and continues to help us through the most difficult time of our lives. We couldn’t do it without you. Thank you, thank you, and thank you.
From January to July Lexi completed six rounds of chemo and three weeks of daily radiation. We had high hopes that she was in remission but a PET scan in August confirmed our fears that the cancer was back. Originally the cancer was in her neck and chest regions, now it has invaded the bones of her vertebrae and her lung. She is now undergoing a more aggressive treatment of Chemo which requires a five to six day hospital stay once every third week. She will have a bone marrow transplant in November which will require a minimum hospital stay of four weeks. She is able to self donate her own stem cells for the transplant, which is an awesome thing. (No chance of rejection) Then she will have more radiation when she recovers from the transplant. Lexi is unable to attend school this year but is taking a few on line classes through the school district. It was a real disappointment not to be able to start her freshman year with her friends. Her spirit and attitude are still bright as ever and continues to look forward to the day when she can say she kicked cancer’s derriere.
Thank you from the bottom of hearts.
April and Lexis Torres
