Facts About UTSD Election

Dear Editor: There is a flyer circulating in Estes Park containing a number of inaccuracies about the Upper Thompson Sanitation District and the May 6th Board of Directors election. Here is the truth compared to the scare tactics in the flyer: 1. UTSD is listed on the Larimer County property tax rolls, but both the mill levy and the amount of tax are ZERO. The current board works to keep it that way. 2. Mer ...

Observations On UTSD From Board Member

Dear Editor: In response to the letter from Gregg & Suzanne Jurgens suggesting a “positive change in leadership” on the Board of Directors of the Upper Thompson Sanitation District, I offer these observations: 1. The Upper Thompson Sanitation District board of directors formally adopted Rules and Regulations last December that apparently a lot of contractors and engineers don’t like. They don’t like them be ...

It has no debt, operates on a cash basis, its tax rate is zer ...

Regarding The Elkhorn Lodge Property

To The Editor and the Estes Park Planning Commission: Elkhorn Lodge is a cornerstone of Estes Park history at the edge of downtown. Although I know time goes forward and change is inevitable, I feel plans for a high-density planned unit development (PUD) should be considered slowly, carefully and thoughtfully with an eye on our historical past. Some of the following trouble me: • The proposed road over to M ...

We Thank You-Estes Park Emergency Services

To The Editor: On January 30, 2008 at 6 a.m., I called 9-1-1. The 9-1-1 operator talked me through verifying my wife, Sylvia’s vital signs. She stayed on the line with me until the EMTs arrived. The EMTs worked on Sylvia in the house and also in the ambulance and they were in constant contact with Dr. Dailey in the Emergency Room. When Sylvia arrived at the ER, Dr. Dailey systematically reviewed her conditi ...

Move It! Dig It!

To the Editor: I am writing to express how much fun my family had last weekend at the Move It! Dig It! Do It! fundraiser, put on by Lifelong Learning of Estes Valley. This fundraiser brought together dozens of vehicles for kids to climb aboard and learn about. They got to eat jelly beans in a stretch limo, watch a firefighter climb to the top of a ladder truck, pretend to drive a bulldozer, touch the brooms ...
