To the Community of Estes Park
The events of the past week have been unprecedented. This is now the third major flood the Estes Park area has experienced in the past 40 years and likely the most destructive and disruptive. Fortunately it appears that we have had no local casualties related to the flood, but many have lost their homes and many more are displaced. Our thoughts go out to everyone in our community as they seek to clean up and start the rebuilding process.
We are highly cognizant that the loss of easy access to the Front Range has the potential to disrupt many people’s medical care. We wish to assure you that we are making every effort to provide needed services here in Estes Park as soon as possible. As a Critical Access Hospital we are fortunate to be able to provide many services locally including: primary care, internal medicine, pediatrics, orthopedics, general surgery, ophthalmology and women’s care including obstetrics. Our physicians live and work in Estes Park and have always been active members of this community. During the recent crisis, the Estes Park Medical Center and the Estes Park Medical Group remained open to meet any urgent needs of the community. We have been available to assist with emergencies, urgent care, medications, tetanus vaccines and care coordination. On Wednesday we returned to normal clinic, diagnostic imaging and laboratory operations. We are also pleased to announce that the Cardiology Clinic reopened on Wednesday and Podiatry will return next week. We have been in contact with our specialists to assess the ability to reopen the Specialty Clinic and more importantly to identify patients with critical needs to assist in their care locally. Our clinicians will be making every effort to provide care for any of our residents who wish to receive their medical care locally.
During this difficult time, we wish to remind everyone of the basics of self-care including: adequate sleep, a healthy diet and avoidance of stress eating, regular exercise and checking on your emotional health. We will be offering Critical Incident Stress Debriefings to assist in this effort. We at the Estes Park Medical Center and the Estes Park Medical Group remain completely committed to the health and wellbeing of our community. More than ever, we are your community hospital. Together with you, we are “Mountain Strong”!
