Time Is Running Out To Sign Up For Bright Christmas
Bright Christmas is a local non-profit organization whose mission is to provide assistance to low income families with children by helping them give their children a wonderful Christmas. We also provide school supplies, emergency clothing or infant needs as requested by Larimer County Social Services, Crossroads Ministry or the schools all year. Crossroads Ministry is a wonderful partner to us in that they screen the families for need and help them fill in the forms we need to be able to help them.
The Christmas gifts to these families are provided by local churches, organizations, families, club members or businesses who “adopt” a low income family and purchase gifts for the children. With funds donated to Bright Christmas we purchase gifts for unsponsored children, each family receives food for a Christmas dinner plus extra staples and cleaning supplies and a shoe certificate if requested.
If you are a family who would like our help, please contact our partners at Crossroads Ministry at 577-0610. They will assist you in filling out the form. There is a financial qualification to meet, but you do not have to be a client of Crossroads Ministry to qualify. We do require proof of a local address and your children must be enrolled in Estes Park Schools if of school age. This program is for children ages eight mos. to 18 years. If you have a child under eight months with older brothers or sisters, the youngest is also eligible to be on this program. Our deadline is November 21st for these forms to be returned in order for the sponsors to have time to purchase the gifts. Distribution of food and gifts will be Dec.12th. We are limited to 125 families. Please sign up as soon as possible.
If you would like to help Bright Christmas either by sponsoring a family or donating to this program, you may write us at P.O. Box 2981, Estes Park, 80517 or call Jean Austin at 586-2035 or 635-3302, or Susan Speedlin at 586-8816. Please call if you have further questions. We also are in need of children’s good used or nearly new coats, hats, gloves and clothing up to age 18. Individual gifts for children can be dropped off at The UPS Store in Stanley Village or at A La Carte across from the library.
Bright Christmas is a 501(c)3 non profit organization. Administration expenses for this program are paid for by a local family, so 100% of your donation goes to the families. Much of our printing is donated by Master Graphics.
Thank you for helping us with this program.
