The 38th Remembrance Service For The Flood Of 1976

Highway 34 memorial

Highway 34 memorial

The Remembrance Service for the Flood of 1976 will be held on Thursday, July 31st at 7:00 p.m. at the memorial sight located by the Volunteer Fire Department, one mile below Drake, or 13 miles west of the Loveland Kmart.

The program will consist of music, three scholarships awarded, and a very interesting speaker who worked for search and rescue in the Flood of 1976. Interestingly enough, during the flood last fall on Sept. 13, 2013 he was rescuing himself and trying to survive.

There will also be a dedication of the Bronze Memorial, (sculpted by George Walbye) which will be placed at the memorial sight in memory of Evelyn Starner, and Patty Goodwine who lost their lives in the flood of September 13, 2013, both were from Cedar Cove.

Everyone is welcome to attend, please bring a chair if you can. Also there will be refreshments after the program, if you want to bring something to share that would be great. Finger food and drinks will be furnished. There will be a time of visiting and sharing.
