Thank You From Longs Peak Injured Hiker
To The Editor:
On July 24th, while decending from the summit of Longs Peak, I sustained injuries from a 12 foot fall at the trough on Longs Peak. I was assisted very quickly by numerous hikers who witnessed my fall, including a hiker who made radio contact with RMNP rescue team. Ranger Brain Hays was on the sceene within 45 minutes. After a through examination, he advised that our best course of action was to descend to the Boulder Field where the Longs Peak Rescue Team could asssist in getting me off of the mountain. With the Longs Peak Rescue Team’s assistance, I made it to the Boulder Field shortly before dark. The Incident Commander decided that a helicopter would be the quickest way to get the medical attention I needed.
I was amazed at the quick response and competence of the Rescue Team. I would like to extend my thanks and appreciation to the following members of the Resuce Team as well as unknown others who may have helped.
Thank you doesn’t seem enough to the people who dedicate their lives to helping others.
