Thank You Firefighters!

To The Editor:

Thank you to all the firefighters and workers who successfully contained the Dunraven Fire last week. We live here because of the beautiful mountains, green trees, abundant wildlife and nice neighbors, but there is always the threat of wild fires. Last Tuesday at noon it happened and by evening there were over 150 people working on the fire. We saw more trucks, fire engines, etc. than we have seen altogether in the 30 + years we have had our home on Dunraven Glade.

We all truly appreciate their efforts. We were glad, too that reserves in the Larimer County Police Dept. were at both the entrance to the Retreat and at the last home on Dunraven to prevent anyone not living here or working on the fire to go the trailhead where all the vehicles were stationed. Many of the workers slept there overnight to be on call if needed.

Thank you, too to Nurse Kelly Housewright who broke her ankle delivering water to the fire fighters. She went beyond the call of duty.
