Terry Parenti

Terry Duncan Parenti, of Estes Park, CO, formerly of Olympia Fields, IL, passed away at Prospect Park Living Center on July 12, 2010 at the age of 82.

Born October 21, 1927 in the Chicago suburb of Blue Island, IL, he was the son of Licinio and Rolanda (Mungai) Parenti. He is survived by is wife of 58 years, Peggy (Smith) Parenti, of Estes Park; daughters Lisa Parenti Hrynko (Larry) and Kathryn Parenti Eichwald (Ken), both of Naperville, IL; grandchildren Katelyn and Terry Eichwald, and Lara and Duncan Hrynko; sister Thelma (Marlyn) Clark of Northbrook, IL; niece Becky (Tom) Henderson and nephew Bill Clark. His parents and his son, James D. Parenti, preceded him in death.

Terry graduated from the University of IL with a degree in Economics, and worked in personnel/human resources for several large Chicago-area companies. Later, he worked as an executive recruiting consultant, ultimately founding his own firm, Parenti Partners, listed as a Top 10 Small Business by Time Magazine.

Ever a community and environmental activist, Terry served on local school and village boards in IL, offering his financial and organizational expertise, and served as an elder at Calvary U.P. Church in Park Forest, IL.

After earning his MBA at Northwestern University, Terry briefly taught business management courses. Later, he developed an entrepreneurship course that he taught at Colorado State University after his retirement.

Terry and Peggy retired to Estes Park in 1991, the location of their honeymoon in 1952, and he immediately became active in the community, participating in Rotary, the North End Homeowner’s Association, the Knights of the Belt Buckle, Estes Park Land Trust, Estes Park Art Center, AARD, Stephen’s Ministry, and the Estes Park High School reading mentor program. In his spare time, he played tennis, hiked the Rockies and greatly enjoyed his dog, Annie.

A memorial service was held at the Presbyterian Community Church of the Rockies on Thursday, July 15. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Estes Valley Land Trust or to Rotary International in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517.
