Rocky Card And Woodland Heights Fire Relief Efforts
For the past three weeks, we have been watching in sadness as the High Park Fire destroyed homes and belongings, and left a local family in grief. Then on Saturday, we watched in horror as the Woodland Heights Fire tore through the High Drive neighborhood, taking 22 homes with it. Thankfully, firefighters, aircraft, and firefighting equipment were able to contain the fire relatively quickly, but not before it did its damage.
The owners of Rocky Card, Inc., Debra Dullaghan and Anne Smith, were fortunate to be able to immediately offer assistance. They made $2,000 from recent Rocky Card sales available for the American Red Cross Northern Colorado Chapter to specifically help those who suffered losses in the fire.
The Red Cross provided food and shelter for those who had to evacuate their homes, and will continue to help residents who lost their homes and visitors who lost belongings. The Red Cross also provides other means to help those affected by disaster, including mental health services and even clean-up kits homeowners can use to help recover valuables and belongings from their homes.
To join the Rocky Card in contributing to the Red Cross, send a check to: American Red Cross, 444 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203, and designate it to the Northern Colorado Chapter – Woodland Heights Fire.
You can also donate specific items, including home first aid supplies, sun screen, baby diaper/wipes, silverware, paper cups and plates, trash bags, gloves, new tarps, basic hygiene items, non-perishable food items, tube socks, new packaged underwear, pet food, small notebooks/pens, and laundry/cleaning supplies.
