Robert Austin Resigns As EPMC CEO

The Park Hospital District Board of Directors accepted the resignation of Robert Austin, Chief Executive Officer of Estes Park Medical Center. Mr. Austin was appointed Interim CEO in August of 2007. He was appointed as CEO in September 2007.

During his tenure, Austin emphasized quality patient care, customer and patient satisfaction, fiscal responsibility, and initiated both Facility and Strategic Plans for 2011 and beyond. Additionally, Mr. Austin was instrumental in hiring a full-time orthopedic surgeon at Estes Park Medical Center. He was also actively involved in the Estes Park community as well as board positions with the American Hospital Association and Colorado Hospital Association.

The Park Hospital Board of Directors will work closely with the leadership staff on an interim basis to ensure continuity of quality care to the community and direction to the medical staff. Bobbi Swenson, RN, MPH, will provide interim leadership to the Medical Center as Acting Chief Executive Officer.

Moving forward, the Park Hospital Board of Directors remains committed to providing the Estes Park community with high-quality care in a financially responsible manner. Efforts will begin immediately to identify a new Chief Executive Officer for the Medical Center. “We are confident in our ability to identify a candidate who will provide the leadership, energy, enthusiasm and excitement necessary to lead Estes Park Medical Center into the future, while continuing to deliver excellent patient care,” said Robert Gordon, President, Park Hospital District Board of Directors.
