Read All About It! Book Sale Celebrates Volumes Of Success

To The Editor:

The Friends of the Library’s Annual Used Book Sale this past weekend generated nearly $26,000 to support the Estes Park Public Library. A record amount! The Friends Board of Directors wishes to thank the Estes Park community and the many volunteers who helped make this three-day event such a great success.

The sale wouldn’t have been possible without the Estes Park community’s generous donation of books throughout the year, not to mention the thousands of folks who attended the sale and bought books.
Special thanks go out to the dedicated group of volunteers who turn out every week all year long to sort, price and box donated books as they arrive at the library.  On the first day of the sale, Public Works Director Scott Zurn and his enthusiastic crew loaded up more than 39,000 books into trucks at the storage facility and delivered them to the Conference Center. A huge thanks for all of your hard work!  Those books are heavy, especially after lifting that thousandth box.

An even larger number of volunteers set up the Conference Center, unpacked the boxes of books, arranged them by categories, operated the cashier stations, etc. It’s a big undertaking, and the board expresses its sincere thanks to each and every one of those volunteers for their enthusiastic work.

The Estes Park business community also deserves a big hand for their support of the event: the Estes Park Trail-Gazette, The Estes Park News and KEPL Radio for consistently publicizing our efforts, the numerous businesses that contributed boxes, the attentive staff of the Holiday Inn and Conference Center and Safeway, for donating plastic bags for our ever popular Sunday bag sale.

The annual Friends of the Library Used Book Sale is a profitable yearly event, and all of the Friends and particularly its Board wish to thank everyone for making it so.
