Ralph E. Bibler died August 14, 2008 at Prospect Park Living Center in Estes Park, CO. He was born on April 8, 1920 in South Dakota. He attended public schools in Warsaw, IN. His education at Ball State University was interrupted by military service in the United States Army Air Corps. Mr. Bibler was a decorated pilot in the South Pacific during World War II. Upon his return from the South Pacific, he married Helen Williams on July 8, 1944.
His degree from Ball State and degree work at Columbia University, Ohio State University and University of Colorado led to a thirty-eight year teaching career. He taught and coached for twenty years at Oberlin College and seventeen years at the University of Colorado. He was awarded many honors from his professional organizations which included American Red Cross (35 year Service Pin), College Swimming Coaches Association (25 year award), Blue Key National Honorary, U.S. Air Corps (Air Medal and Distinguished Flying Cross), Indiana Collegiate All State Football Team in 1942 at Ball State, Warsaw, Indiana High School letters in football, basketball and track.
The Biblers retired to Estes Park in 1985. Volunteering as a Chamber of Commerce Ambassador, fly fishing and golfing along with frequent trips allowed the years to go by rapidly.
Ralph is survived by a daughter, Nancy Ceridwyn Gunion and son-in-law Robert, who live in Oakland, CA and son, Thomas Bibler and daughter-in-law Barbara, who live in Estes Park. Grandsons Travis and David also reside in Estes Park, step-grandchildren, Erick and Brian Ciske, Nikki Bubser and Krista Ciske.
There will be no service and the ashes will be scattered in a predetermined location.
