Preliminary Meeting for EPIC
Estes Performance Incorporated (EPIC) has requested a preliminarymeeting between staff and design consultants for its proposed performing arts theater. The meeting is scheduled for June 14 at 12:30 p. m. in Rooms 202 and 203 of Town Hall, 170 MacGregor Ave. and is open to members of the community who wish to observe. EPIC intends to design, permit, construct and operate a performing arts center facility at 116 East Elkhorn Ave., the former site of the Park Theater Mall.
Before designing the facility, EPIC and staff will discuss requirements thatmust be considered as its consultants begin designing the project. No decisions will be made; the purpose of the meeting is information-sharing. Meetings such as this precede the official application process, and are not generally open to the public, or of interest to the public. They allow staff and consultants to discuss details such as floodplain and landscape planning, utilities requirements, fire protection and building codes, parking and traffic, impacts to neighbors, and the design and construction process. However, due to the level of public interest in the EPIC project, the Town and EPIC are opening this meeting for interested members of the community to observe the process; public comment is not included in this meeting.
The June 14 meeting is a preliminary step to the design and application process. Once it has a completed design, EPIC has the option to begin the application and special review process for the development, which will allow multiple opportunities for public involvement and input.
