Please Vote “Yes” For Community Center

Dear Editor

I am writing in support of the proposal for a Community Center, to be built by the Estes Valley Recreation and Park District, on the site of the old Estes Park Elementary School.

We are among the very few (if any) communities our size in the area without a Community Center. There is need, year round, for locally available indoor recreational activity for our kids as well as for young adults and seniors. Passage of this ballot issue would provide for a “family friendly” addition to the present aquatic center, a recreation center with full-size gym with a walking track, a youth center, rooms for recreation programs, crafts, performance rehearsals, community activities and meetings.

Also in the proposed Community Center will be leased space for non-profit community organizations and much needed child care.

The Community Center would provide a place to further promote “community”-i.e. interaction between persons of all ages having common interests – kids interacting with young adults and seniors, and vice-versa.
Building the Community Center, with its many activities, right on the school campus is great planning, and helps parents with many transportation problems.

If you agree with me, please join me in voting YES for the proposed Community Center!
