Patricia Parrot Willits
Patricia Parrott Willits passed away May 7, 2012 in Los Angeles, California. Patricia was born in Kansas City, MO. on January 16, 1927 and was raised in Pittsburg, Kansas. Patricia attended the Hockaday School for Girls in Dallas, Texas, Sunset Hill School in Kansas City, Bradford Junior College in Havenhill, Massachusetts and Connecticut College for Women in New London, Connecticut.
In 1949 Patricia married Robert W. Willits. Patricia served as a Trustee and Chairman of the Board of Sunset Hill School and as a Trustee for Bradford Junior College. Patricia was philanthropically engaged with several artistic and educational organizations, among them The Kansas City Ballet, The School of American Ballet, and the Universities of Colorado, Kansas and Missouri.
Patricia loved to travel; her passion for discovery was shared with her many friends as well as her love for the Rocky Mountains, which brought her close to the land she loved most throughout her life. She was active in the Estes Park community giving generously through the Parrott Family Foundation to the Estes Park Medical Center, the Estes Park Area Museum among others. Her family, the Parrotts have maintained a home in Estes Park for many decades where she spent her summers. She, her daughters and granddaughter all attended Cheeley Camps She will always be remembered for her inimitable sense of humor and her generous spirit.
Patricia is predeceased by her son Robert W. Willits Jr. and her brother, William G. Parrott Jr. She is survived by her daughters, Margo Willits and Mimi Petrie, her son-in-law, Don Petrie, her granddaughter, Patricia Weg and Patricia’s husband, Adam Weg.
A private family remembrance will be held this summer in the mountains she loved so much. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice in Patricia’s name.
