Park Place Mall Under New Ownership
Park Place Mall in the center of Downtown Estes Park at 145 East Elkhorn has been sold to a local business owner. Eric Blackhurst of Anderson Realty & Management worked with Mark and Jean Rissmiller of Estes Park and Allen, Texas to purchase the three story building the last week of January.
Blackhurst noted that there were many unknowns with this 1919 building that has had a rich history as a 20 room hotel, a Ripley’s Believe It or Not Museum, and several versions of retail businesses. “The latest renovation was in 1985, so there are components that are nearly 30 years old. I am certain there will still be lots of surprises to come.”
The Rissmillers own the two RMC clothing stores and another commercial building in Estes Park. This spring one of the RMC clothing stores will be relocated to the Park Place Mall. “We are very excited about this opportunity and look forward to our new space and working with the other fine tenants already in the building,” said Mark Rissmiller. “Our goal is to enhance the facility, attract new and diverse tenants so that our residents and visitors have a great place to shop and dine.”
Don Darling of Darling Enterprise, Inc, and a long time Estes Park contractor and custom builder is involved with this venture. “His expertise and crews will be instrumental in rehabilitating many of the lease spaces and common areas so that new tenants will have a first class place to do business and the public will enjoy coming to the Mall,” Rissmiller said.
RMC Clothing will join Chelito’s Mexican Restaurant, Golden Leaf Gallery, Mad Moose Home and Garden shop, Pride and Joy Gifts, and Rose’s Gift Shop as tenants in the Park Place Mall. As additional units are renovated they will be added to the leasing pool.
Blackhurst said, “This marks my 52nd commercial transaction and that doesn’t include many leases I have facilitated for various landlords throughout the area. I look forward to working with the Rissmillers and Don Darling to fill Park Place Mall with quality businesses for Estes Park and our visitors to enjoy.”
