New Repertoire Theater Holding Auditions For Murder In The Cathedral
Open tryouts for “Murder in the Cathedral”
The Estes Park Repertoire Theatre Company, organized five weeks ago, has been formed to provide a season of plays for Estes Park theatre goers. They are pleased to say that they received their charter as a “not for profit” last week and are working on 501 (c) 3 certification with the IRS.
Officers of the new company are: Art Blume, Founder & Managing Director; Carolyn Wills, Director of Administration; Margie Corcoran, Director of Finance; Walter Kiser, Artistic Director and C.J. Jensen, Assistant Managing Director.
The Company will perform four (4) plays each calendar year. Playbills will include comedies and dramas. The Company will select productions for each season and announce the schedule. Playgoers will be able to purchase a season pass or tickets to individual productions. Venues will vary and be chosen to best match the play’s subject matter.
The group has already selected their first play “Murder in the Cathedral” by T.S. Eliot. This production will be presented on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, October 23, 24, 25 at St. Bart’s Church.
The script is powerful and deals with the murder of Archbishop of Canterbury Thomas Becket in 1170. The murder was in the Cathedral and use of the Nave at St. Bart’s is a perfect setting for their first production.
Casting is underway and they are having open casting calls each Wednesday night, 7:00 p.m. at St. Bart’s. Anyone interested in reading for a part can attend a casting call. Nine (9) male and nine-twelve (9-12) female parts will be cast. According to Art Blume, Founder of the new repertoire theater, “We have cast several of the roles thus far and hope to complete the casting within the next couple of weeks. We invite any interested person to contact us for further information about our new company and/or a role in this production.”
