New Advisory Board To Advise Town Board On Parks And Public Art Issues; Seeking Three Members

The Town of Estes Park is seeking applicants to fill three volunteer positions on the newly established Parks Advisory Board. The board will provide guidance to the Town Board on issues regarding parks and public art. Completed applications must be received by August 11, 2014. Committee applications are available at Room 130 of Town Hall, 170 MacGregor Ave. and at www.estes.org/jobs. Mail application, resume and a cover letter specifying interest to: Town of Estes Park Human Resources, P.O. Box 1200, Estes Park, CO 80517 or fax them to 970-577-3573. By choice, the Town of Estes Park is an Equal Opportunity Employer.

Committee members are required to attend meetings monthly, or more often as needed. Appointments will be for three-year terms with initial appointments staggered to include a three-year appointment, a two-year appointment and a 1-year appointment.

The role of the Town of Estes Park Parks Advisory Board is to support parks and public art that enhance the quality of life for the citizens, businesses and visitors to the Town of Estes Park; help establish a public art policy, including standards for permanent installations and locations of publicly funded art, memorials and donations; develop standards for planting and invasive plants/noxious weeds/pest control; and river and wetlands work, clean up and revegetation. The board will continue the former Tree Board’s work in support of educational programs in the schools and community, as well as development of a tree care ordinance for the Town, continuation of Tree City USA standards and a community forestry program.

The Parks Advisory Board is currently seated with four members who have a strong background in forestry and landscaping. To create a well rounded perspective on art issues and policies, the board is seeking applicants who are art minded, active in the Estes Park art community and interested in creating a strong public art program.
