Moccasin Bypass To Close For Guardrail Installation

The Moccasin Bypass will be closed for two consecutive days during the week of November 15-19 as guardrails are installed in several locations along roadway. The two-day closure period will be chosen based on weather conditions, and the Town of Estes Park Public Works Department will barricade the road at Riverside Drive near the Aerial Tramway entrance as well as near the western-most entrance to the Estes Park Medical Center. Traffic will be detoured through downtown to Stanley Avenue. All entrances to the Medical Center will remain open.

Public Works Director Scott Zurn commented, “The guardrail will enhance safety along this section of roadway, primarily reducing the potential for motorists leaving the roadway and encountering the steep embankments.” The majority of the guardrails will be installed along Crags Drive above the Aerial Tramway facility. Another will be installed across from the western-most parking lot of the Estes Park Medical Center.
