Kearney was appointed at the regular Fire Board meeting on March 24th and took the Oath of Office on Wednesday April 3rd. The Oath was given by newly elected Board President Frank Theis. The ceremony was held at the Dannels Fire Station and included Fire Chief Scott Dorman, Administrative Assistant and Board Secretary Suzanne Landkamer, Board members Jack Rumley, Doug Klink, and Mark Igel. Laura Kearney, Kelly Igel, Fire Marshal Marc Robinson, Assistant Chief Daryl McCown, Captain Jon Landkamer, Captain Derek Rosenquist, and firefighter Justin Kearney and his family were also in attendance. A short social gathering followed the “swearing in” with coffee and cookies. Kearney will fulfill the term of past board President Sue Doylen, who stepped down in March. Mike Kearney is a former Estes Park volunteer firefighter, having served the community from 1992 to 1999. He is also a former board member of the Upper Thompson Sanitation District. Mike and his wife Laura are long time Estes Park residents and own and operate Kearney & Sons Excavating, Inc. We would like to welcome and congratulate Mike on his appointment to the board of the Estes Valley Fire Protection District.
