Mary Abbie Ulfers
Abbie has lived in Estes Park since 1999. After of the death of her husband Glenn, she chose to relocate from Iowa to the mountains where they had enjoyed many vacations together.
Interment will be at the Estes Valley Memorial Gardens.
A Celebration of Life and Remembrance was held at Good Samaritan at 3:00 p.m., on Tuesday, in the independent living dining room.
Abbie was born on February 16, 1918 to Elmore Ellis and Caroline (Scammon) Ellis in Emmetsburg, Iowa.
She attended Emmetsburg Junior College and then worked in Des Moines where she met her husband of 54 years, Glenn Harvey Ulfers. She lived in Des Moines for 40 years and Cedar Rapids, Iowa for 20.
Abbie married Glenn on March 4, 1942 in Emmetsburg, Iowa. She was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church of Des Moines, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her sister and brother.
Survivors include her sons, Mark Ulfers and his wife, Wendy, of Paris, France and Estes Park; Erik Ulfers and his wife, Karen, of Dobbs Ferry, New York, NY; her daughter, Marilyn Irwin of Estes Park; two grandsons, Benjamin Irwin, of Boston, MA and Adam Ulfers, of London, England; three granddaughters, Lillian and Nia Ulfers of Dobbs Ferry, NY and Lara Ulfers of Ft. Collins, CO.
Memorial gifts may be sent to The Good Samaritan Village IT lab program, dedicated to teaching residents computer literacy.”
