Marjorie Dove Oliver
Our beautiful mother and grandmother has gone to rejoice with those who have long awaited to embrace her again. She died peacefully Saturday, May 29th. Born in Rigby, Jefferson, Idaho June 8, 1927, Marjorie Dove Morgan was the first of three daughters of Floyd Earl Morgan and Avis Catherine Cameron Morgan.
Her first employment was working for her father who was the manager of the Safeway Store in Brighton, Colorado. She graduated from Brighton High School in 1945 and went on to attend Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah. She returned to Colorado to complete a degree in nursing at the University of Colorado. While attending the University of Colorado, she entered the Miss Colorado Pageant and was awarded first runner-up. After receiving her degree, she worked in hospitals, home care, as a high school nurse and in specialized care for premature babies.
Marjorie met Gene A. Oliver Jr. in Denver, Colorado. Their marriage in July 1949 lasted through 36 years, five children & eleven moves, including California & Utah. In 1979, they purchased a resort in Estes Park on the Big Thompson River. Although Gene passed away in Feb. 1985, Margie continued to run the resort with family until 1990. Then in 1995 she was in the resort business again, with family, on the Fall River. Although she moved to Loveland six years ago, she continued in the resort business with her children on the Fall River, until her death.
Marjorie loved to serve the Lord and others. She served in many church callings and served a full time mission in Brisbane, Australia for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1990/1991. Her service in the Denver Temple was also a highlight in her life. Margie liked to sew, do needle point and crochet. She composed wonderful and inspiring poetry, loved music and taught Hula dancing in her younger years. Whether she was well or ill she loved to travel. Fortunately for her she married an airline pilot. She was always ready and waiting at the door if anyone was going anywhere.
Always the doting mother, Margie thrived on lively family gatherings. Her children Gary & Cindy Oliver of Loveland, CO, Kim & Rosanne Oliver and Kevin & Vickie Oliver of Orem, UT, Genette Oliver of Albuquerque, NM, and Keeley & Craig Hansen of Estes Park, CO, 19 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren will miss her very much. Her inviting smile rewarded family and friend alike with a mothers love.
