Marilyn J. Anderson
She is survived by her beloved husband of 63 years, Stan, and her two children, Susie Hertz (Ray) of Estes Park and Paul Anderson (Melinda) of Burnsville Minnesota, as well as four grandsons; Lance Fischer, Joshua Anderson, Caleb Anderson and Ethan Anderson.
Born on June 22nd, 1929 to Charlie and Becky Carlson, Marilyn was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota. As a child of the Great Depression, she grew up living by the phrase, “use it up-wear it out-make it do-or do without,” and always made the best of whatever she had. Marilyn was an outstanding student and was front page editor of her high school newspaper. She and Stan were high school sweethearts and were married September 16th, 1950 at Salem Covenant Church, Minneapolis, Minnesota. Marilyn was a medical technician and medical office manager until the family moved to Colorado in 1969, where they raised their two children and enjoyed their special neighborhood and caring neighbors.
She loved to knit slipper booties for all her family, was an expert Scrabble player, a big John Wayne fan and enjoyed stock car racing. She had a beautiful alto voice and loved to sing hymns and play the piano. Her brownies with homemade fudge frosting were the best and especially enjoyed by all her grandsons.
Marilyn fought and beat stage 3 esophageal cancer in 2011 and credited her favorite Bible verse for helping her through it. Philippians 4:13: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
A memorial service was held Thursday, September 26th at Calvary Bible Church in Boulder, with a service of remembrance to take place in Minneapolis, Minnesota in the near future.
In lieu of flowers, contributions to Boulder Cancer Center may be sent in care of Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.
