Estes Park resident Marcella Blanchar died Tuesday morning, May 27, 2014 at Prospect Park Living Center. She was 96 years old. Marcella Ginsbach was born January 26, 1918 in Edmunds, ND. Her parents were John and Margaret (Fuhrman) Ginsbach. Marcella attended North Dakota State Teachers College in Valley City, ND. On June 1, 1940 she married Elmer Blanchar in Carrington, ND. The couple moved to Estes Park in 1950 where Marcella was a bookkeeper and teller at the Estes Park Bank for 14 years, retiring in 1983. She was an active member of Our Lady of the Mountains Catholic Church and a member of the Women’s Guild. She enjoyed making Christmas wreaths each year and had been a member of the Royal Neighbors of America since the age of 10. Elmer died in 2003.
Marcella is survived by her son David Blanchar (Carol), daughters Susan Langmack of Estes Park, Carol Williams of Portland, OR, Mary Vigil (Chris) of Larkspur, CO, Marcia Davis (Jake) of Forest City, NC and Brenda Reins (Emma and Olivia)of Estes Park. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers.
A Mass of the Christian Burial will celebrate Marcella’s life on Friday June 6, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. An Evening Vigil and Rosary will be Thursday 7:00 p.m. Both services will be at Our Lady of the Mountains. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Estes Valley, Our Lady of the Mountains or the American Cancer Society in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Ave. Estes Park, CO 80517.
