Lucile Frances Wright French
Lucile Frances Wright French, 86, known to all as Lou, died in Estes Park, Colorado, on April 27, 2012. She is survived by her devoted husband Hal, a son Jim French and his wife Susan Houghton of Leadville, CO, two daughters Donna French and her husband Rich Studer of Aurora, CO and Joan Silver and husband Brad of Woodbridge, VA, seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren, who will sorely miss her.
Lou worked as a registered nurse and enjoyed working in the delivery room early in her career and was a nurse in the United States Army Nursing Corps. In later years she practiced nursing at schools and camps for outdoor education. Lou will be remembered for her adventuresome spirit, creativity, hospitality, and love of music.
Born on July 29, 1925 in Urbana, New York, Lou was the daughter of Arthur and Lottie Wright and sister of Fred. They grew up near Hammondsport, NY on a dairy farm overlooking Keuka Lake. She went on to graduate from Keuka College with a BS in Nursing. After marrying Harold Mace French, she lived in New York, California, Australia, and Colorado.
Lou kept busy throughout her life serving in the community and at church. Some of her service efforts included camp nurse for the Girl Scouts, organizing “The Reach Program” at Faith Church in Aurora for meeting medical needs in the community, lay counseling, and President of a Christian Women’s chapter.
Lou will be deeply missed by all of us who had the privilege of knowing and loving her. She was a women of faith and had a personal relationship with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. A service to celebrate Lou’s life was held at Rocky Mountain Church in Estes Park on Tuesday, May 1st.
