Local Marketing District Presentation Offered October 13
Eric Blackhurst, a member of the Town Board of Trustees, will explain Referred Issues 5D and 5E that will appear on the November ballot at a public program on Monday, October 13, 2008 at 12:45 p.m. at the Estes Park Senior Center, 220 4th Street. Trustee Blackhurst will present an overview of the ballot issues and allow time for questions.
The Town of Estes Park and Larimer County entered into an Intergovernmental Agreement in August 2008 for the formation of the Estes Park Local Marketing District after receiving a petition for the organization of the district from the requisite number of owners of commercial real property in the proposed service area. The establishment of a Local Marketing District must be submitted to the registered electors residing and registered within the service area at the upcoming General Election on November 4, 2008. Ballot issue 5D creates a Marketing District for Estes Park and the surrounding areas and 5E authorizes a 2% tax on the price of overnight accommodations that are 30 days or less.
The Local Marketing District would be funded by this 2% marketing and promotion tax if approved by the electorate and would be directed by an independent group of seven local residents who reside within the district boundaries.
This free program is open to the public, no reservations are needed.
