Library Set To Re-Open

After being closed for two weeks for interior renovations, the Estes Park Public Library reopened on Monday, December 29th. The library sports a revamped children’s area with new furniture, carpeting, paint, computers and signage. The improvements were made possible through generous grants provided by the Library Foundation and the Friends of the Library.

The public is invited to the Reopening Celebration on Friday, January 2nd, following preschool storytime from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Come see the spruced up Kid’s Space, enjoy refreshments, and meet popular children’s book character Maisy Mouse. Brad and Kathy Fitch will perform songs to entertain children and families at 11:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. They are sure to leave you with your foot tapping and a smile on your face.

“Our library’s Kid’s Space is a wonderful place to meet, play, communicate and learn. The new inviting atmosphere encourages children and families to use our library resources and to read and linger in the library. We can’t wait for everyone to visit!” says Kerry Aiken, Youth Services Supervisor.

“The sprucing up of the space has brought about so many improvements but we’ve kept some of our “signature” pieces that everyone has enjoyed in the past, said Aiken. “The corner tree and the ever-popular train table will stay. There will also be some new toys for interactive play. And of course there’s the wonderful selection of books, DVDs, toys, music CDs, audio books, and parenting resources.”

The Park R-3 Schools loaned the library 20 book carts and the Park and Recreation staff transported them. The library staff and many volunteers moved all the shelves and materials out of the youth room and then back in after the remodel. “We thank everyone for pitching in to help with a smooth transformation. It’s a new space the whole community can be proud of,” says Melanie Kozlowski, youth services assistant.

Make a visit to your public library part of your family’s weekly routine!
