Kurt Streib

Obit-StreibKurt Werner Streib of Estes Park was called home on January 14, 2014 after a brief illness. He was born on January 25, 1953 in Kingston, New York to Curt and Margaret Streib.

After graduating from Wood-Ridge High School in 1971, he attended the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Kurt then proceeded to join the family business, running Metro Market in New Jersey, eventually owning it. While working there, he met his future wife, Nadine.

Together they have two daughters Desiree Streib (Billy Jackson) and Carissa Streib (Josh McGill) and a stepson, Richard Mazza. Kurt and his family moved to Estes Park, Colorado in 1984 where they opened up Trails End Restaurant. After four seasons, Kurt and Nadine decided to slow down their pace and transformed the restaurant into Simply Christmas.

While Nadine loved the shop, Kurt was bored so he worked at Safeway for five years before purchasing Lynard Services and eventually opening up Mocha Angelo’s coffee shop. Kurt was a member of the Optimist Club and was a big supporter of the Estes Park swimming community which his daughters were active participants in.You could always find him at meets, on deck, working the time clock, cheering on the team. Kurt was a caring father to all three of his children. He was at every event from swim meets, to choir concerts, to the birth of his grandchildren. When not at work, you could find him at home with a cigar in one hand and a Jack and Coke in the other throwing a ball for his faithful buddy, Rambo, who went everywhere with him. Kurt was also an avid bowler, bowling three 300 games in his lifetime. When the weather was warm, he was out on his motorcycle taking advantage of the fresh air and sunshine.

He is survived by Nadine Streib, his daughters Desiree and Carissa, son Richie, son-in-laws Josh McGill and Billy Jackson, and grandchildren Freddy and Giuliana Mazza, Jacob and Xavier Jackson, Tavin McGill, and of course, Rambo.

A celebration of Kurt’s life will take place Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Trout Haven Ranch Lodge 810 Moraine Avenue.

Memorial donations may be made to the Pet Association of Estes Park in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517. See www.allnutt.com to send a message to Kurt’s family.
