Judith Anne Wallace
She was born to Helen Dunlap and the late Donald Dunlap, Feb 13, 1942, in Cadiz, OH. Judy graduated from Freeport High School in 1960 and received a BA in English and Speech from Kent State University in 1964. She married Gary Wallace in 1965, and they lived together in Ohio, Midland, Texas, and Charleston, Illinois before relocating to Estes Park, CO in 1999.
Judy was a teacher, counselor, mentor, volunteer, confidant, care-giver, wife, sister and mother. She had several careers but the one that brought her the most joy and fulfillment was teaching. She was passionate about supporting the students and encouraging them to do their best.
Judy joined P.E.O. in 1972 and has been a member for the past 40 years. Most recently she was active in the Estes Park Chapter HF. She was also a member of Beta Sigma Phi for nearly as long. She has gained numerous sisters and life-long friends from being involved in such philanthropic community organizations.
Judy was an active board member and treasurer of the Salud Foundation. She served as bookkeeper for Crossroads Ministry Inc. for many years. She was also a member of Rotary and Shepherd of the Mountains Lutheran Church. Judy was a strong supporter of and volunteer for the La Puente Homeless Shelter in Alamosa, CO. Judy, along with her husband Gary and friends Gary and Kelly Brown, were recent recipients of the Martin Luther King Jr. Peace and Justice award of the Estes Park Interfaith Council.
Judy is survived by her mother, Helen Dunlap, husband, Gary, her children Eric Wallace of San Francisco, CA and Kara Wallace of Loveland, CO. She also is survived by two grandchildren, Andrew and Kaleigh and one great-great-grandchild, Sydney.
She was a generous, warm-hearted person and she will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made in Judy’s name to La Puente.
