Join In The Dedication Park Theater Riverwalk Opens May 28

EP NEWS/ Gary Hazelton

Estes Park Mayor Bill Pinkham, the Board of Trustees and the Park Theatre Mall family led by Sharon Seeley would like to invite the public to gather on Friday, May 28, to dedicate the opening of the Park Theatre Riverwalk Connection in downtown Estes Park. The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. on the Riverwalk landing immediately east of the site where the historic Rocky Mountain Park Transportation Company and the Park Theatre Mall once operated. In response to the devastating 2009 downtown Estes Park fire, Seeley, as managing owner, has constructed the temporary connection through her family’s property with contributions provided by Rocky Mountain Memories and their friends and $10,000 provided by the Town of Estes Park.

Also at the ceremony site, beginning at 2:30 p.m., local Ward Durrett and his riverwalk jazz band will play their best tunes to kick off the dedicated affair. And immediately following the 3:00 p.m. ceremony, Rocky Mountain Memories will celebrate the occasion by hosting a simple village reception with support from other downtown establishments including the Colorado Hat Company, DeLeo’s Park Theatre Cafe & Deli, Park Theatre, Trendz at the Park, Riverplace, Photos By Sandi, Mama Rose’s and Poppy’s Pizza & Grill. Everyone is warmly welcome.

The joint venture between the Town and the property owner to construct the temporary Riverwalk connection will benefit the public and the business community, permitting pedestrians safe passage through the private Park Theatre property and offering a free flowing Riverwalk experience to the far east and west ends of Town. Rick Grigsby of Rocky Mountain Memories has facilitated the cooperative effort and the construction of the temporary connection, which is scheduled to remain open at least through October, depending on weather conditions and construction plans of the property owner.
