John Denver Tribute Concert Set For Labor Day Weekend

“Cowboy” Brad Fitch and his TropiCowboy Band will present their ninth annual John Denver Tribute Concert in Estes Park on Saturday, Sept. 1 at the Stanley Park Fair Grounds. The concert, which will feature classic songs from the legendary Denver, will benefit the Estes Park Lions Club charities. The majority of funds will go to organizations for the sight and hearing impaired, community social services and local scholarships.

“Performing John Denver’s songs is such a joy for me,” Fitch said. I love hearing how many people remember and enjoy his music and sing along to every word. These songs bring back wonderful memories and share messages that are as pertinent today as when Denver first wrote them.”

“Each year I try to keep this concert fresh by bringing in different musicians. Each of them adds a unique flavor to these wonderful songs. This year I will again be joined on stage by renowned lead guitarist Jimmy Sferes, who lived and performed in our area for many years. Our drummer will again be Estes Park resident and percussionist extraordinaire Ward Durrett. Johnny Neill of Denver will again join us on fiddle. I am also thrilled to include some members of my own family in the band this time around.”

Fairground gates will open at 4 p.m. The opening act will be Chain Station, a popular front range bluegrass band. They will perform at 5 p.m. and Brad Fitch and the TropiCowboy Band will begin at 6:30 p.m.
