Jean B. Canaiy, 91, passed away December 21, 2013 at Pathways Hospice in Loveland, CO after a short battle with pneumonia. Jean was born April 29, 1922 in Snyder CO, the daughter of Ray and Gayle M. Beery. She attended high school in Brush CO and was a freshman at CU at the age of 16. By age 20, she had completed pre med and was about to enter medical school when she met and married Lou Canaiy. Jean spent the WWII years with Lou’s family in Fairfield, CT. In 1951 Jean and Lou moved to Estes Park and built and operated The Lake Estes Motor Inn for 25 years. Jean was active in Quota Club and the Estes Park Womens Club. She enjoyed Estes Park and living in the mountains.
Jean was a devoted wife, mother and friend. She was a selfless person who gave generously of her time, energy and love. She was a beautful person inside and out. Her absence will be acutely felt by everyone who knew her, but most of all by her children and immediate family.
Jean is survived by her three children, daughter Cherie Pettyjohn and her husband Larry of Estes Park, sons Steven Canaiy and his wife Gail of Loveland and Brian Canaiy of Fort Collins and Valdez, AK. She is also survived by grandchildren and great grandchildren; Scott Pettyjohn, Louis Canaiy and his partner Nathanael Van Vorst, Tessa Canaiy and her son Aden Canaiy-Clarkson, Chris Canaiy and his son, Zion James Canaiy.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother and a sister; her husband Lou Canaiy, and a grandchild Anya Pettyjohn McCleary and her son Brian.
