Janet Edson McClennahan
Janet McClennahan went to her eternal home in the presence of God on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at the age of 66. She is survived by her husband Steve, her children Matthew Williams and Angela Hasty, grandchildren Michael and Matthew Hasty and Olivia Williams, brother Pat Edson and sister Sharon Williams. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harris and Clara Edson.
Janet was born and spent most of her life in Kerrville, Texas. She was a gifted artist and won many awards for her bronze sculptures including several from a prestigious show at the Salmagundi Club in New York City. She was a member of the National Sculpture Society, the Allied Artists of America and was awarded a Fellowship in the American Artists Professional League. She particularly enjoyed sculpting children and wildlife and her work can be found in collections all over North America.
Janet spent much of her working life at the family business, Edson’s Kerrcrafters in Kerrville. In 1997 she and Steve moved to Estes Park and established their art gallery, Snowfire. Janet made many dear friends while in Estes Park. In 2006, they moved Snowfire to the Texas Hill Country.
Janet was an original member of and currently attended Western Hills Baptist Church in Kerrville. She also attended Hill Country Evangelical Free Church in Fredericksburg, Texas for a time.
There will be a memorial service for Janet at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 2, 2010 at Western Hills Baptist Church, 2010 Goat Creek Rd., Kerrville. (830) 895-1188.
