Information On Upcoming Estes Park Marathon Event
Dear Estes Park residents, churches and business owners:
On Sunday, June 14, 2009, the Estes Park Marathon committee will be hosting the 6th annual marathon, half marathon, 10K and 5K foot races around and through Estes Park. This is a fundraising event to benefit some of our area’s youth programs. We are sending this letter to you because your home, church or business is near the route that will be used for the marathon or half-marathon. It is our hope that you will find the Estes Park races an interesting event that is good for our community, and we hope that knowledge of the event will help you make sure the races do not inconvenience you. The marathon and half-marathon start at 7 a.m., the 10K at 7:45 a.m. and the 5K at 9 a.m.
New this year: Building on the success of starting the Kids’ Fun Run in Bond Park last year, we are adding a marathon relay; managed by the American Cancer Society, to raise funds for cancer research.
Runners and walkers welcome lots of spectators, so you may want to step out and cheer the hardy souls coming down your street! In many cities, neighborhoods display banners welcoming race participants. If you would be willing to get more involved, we always need volunteers! If you’re interested, please contact Director of Volunteers
Janet Bielmaier at 970-215-9450 or contact us online at team@EPmarathon.org.
These well-designed races will present our beautiful area very well to our out-of-town guests as well as local runners and walkers. Along with this article, is a map illustrating the courses of the marathon and half-marathon. Please take a moment to look this over to see if this event will affect your travels on that day. There will not be any road closures on race days but there will be some delays to allow all participants to cross streets on the routes. Traffic control staff will work to keep the delays as short as possible.
Make sure to check out the map below of the routes. The 10K and 5K routes involve the area around the schools and Lake Estes.
Thank you for your assistance, and we hope to see you on race day! For more information please visit our website at www.EPmarathon.org.
