Hundreds Take Part In New Library Card Extravaganza

library_1More than 1,700 people visited the Estes Valley Library during the two-day New Card Party held last Friday and Saturday, according to the library’s official gate tally. Of those, more than eight hundred library cardholders used the opportunity to exchange their cards for one of three newly designed cards featuring new library graphics and a popular keychain” size card. Crowds gathered to enjoy a celebration that included food and refreshments, an array of special door prizes, a financial survey tied to a major new library grant, and entertainment that included a costumed “Tigger” and acclaimed Boulder balloon artist “Bonzo.”

Those who have not yet had the opportunity to acquire their new card may still do so at any time. The public is especially encouraged to get their new cards during February to be able to participate in Library Lovers Month 2010. This special promotion allows those with new cards to take advantage of discounts and specials at twenty local stores, coffee shops and restaurants. The table of special door prizes was one of the attractions at last Friday and Saturday’s New Card Party. 378 adults and teens entered the general door prize drawing, and another 188 young people entered for a drawing of children’s books. Congratulations to the following winners:
