The Hilltop Guild celebrates their 61st annual handicraft Fair and Bazaar in Allenspark next weekend. The event takes place four miles south of Allenspark at 18720 State Highway 7, held at the Kelley House on Saturday, August 1st from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The Chicken Pot Pie Luncheon will be served at 11a.m. with Homemade Pie Time at 1 p.m. and the Raffle Drawing at 1:30 p.m.

The ladies of the Hilltop Guild were formally organized and held their very first Bazaar in the summer of 1948. The original organizers were Leona Trevarton, Mamie McAllister, Ethel White, Grace Day and Vera Rubendall.  Just as these ladies made tea towels, homemade candies, jelly and baked goodies for their Bazaar, members make crafts all winter long and bring them to a mountain home at the Kelley House to go on sale the first Saturday in August, every summer. The crafters have hand woven, hand knitted, recycled denim and even a huge White Elephant selection and antiques & collectibles. There are books and art work galore! There are beautiful hand crafted raffle items to be given away at 1:30 p.m. The winners to not need to be present.

Bring the entire family to the mountains, there is something for everyone.  You may tour the Bunce School Lending Library and Museum from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. Hosts will give a tour and answer your questions. The old log structure, the Bunce School dates back to 1888. The walk back in time will be your pleasure. Your children may sit in the tiny desks, read the Dick and Jane Reader or write on a slate with chalk. A true adventure, don’t miss it!
