Habitat For Humanity Ground Blessing Event
Please join Habitat for Humanity of Estes Valley for a very special Colorado Builds Day Event.
Join the Board of Habitat and invited elected officials and special friends for a ‘Ground Blessing’ event on Sunday, May 18th at 2:00 in the afternoon. The event will be held at the recently approved Kundtz subdivision on West Riverside Drive just south of Manor RV Park on Riverside Drive. We will join in fellowship at the site of the next three Estes Valley Habitat homes to built in the Estes Valley.
Habitat Builds Colorado Day was held statewide on April 19th. The day organized by Habitat for Humanity of Colorado, and officially recognized by Governor Ritter by proclamation, Habitat Builds Colorado Day featured 23 home builds and other events across the state to raise awareness for affordable housing and the Habitat solution. The local Habitat board felt their local event would be more appropriately scheduled at the conclusion of hearings for subdivision and development.
“With foreclosures at an all time high and fewer options for affordable housing, Habitat is pleased to offer one piece of the solution to this immense problem,” said Stefka Fanchi, Executive Director. “By involving policy makers in our mission we hope to create partnerships that will benefit the entire state.”
Habitat for Humanity is one of the world’s largest homebuilders with the world’s lowest foreclosure rate. Habitat homes are funded through local fundraising in addition to partnerships with organizations like the Federal Home Loan Bank of Topeka and the Colorado Housing and Finance Authority.
Last year’s Estes Park Habitat Builds Colorado Day event attracted State Senator Steve Johnson and then Trustee Chuck Levine in a painting event on the 11th Estes Park home.
