Habitat Announces Selection Of 12th Partner Family
The Board of Directors of Habitat for Humanity of Estes Valley gathered Sunday at the YMCA of the Rockies to announce their selection of Traci and Nicholas Orellana as the 12th family to partner with the organization. The afternoon get-together was also an opportunity for the entire Board to meet the newest family as well as meet other members of the ever-growing Estes Valley Habitat family.
The couple was selected from a pool of applicants. Interviews followed and selection was made based on the following criteria; current housing circumstance, having an income of 40-60% area median income, ability to document income, ability to repay 30 year interest free mortgage, employment in the community for at least the past year, and willingness to partner with Habitat by committing to a minimum of 300 hours in sweat equity in the construction of their home.
Nicholas was so excited when notified that he couldn’t remember exactly what he had been told so he had to replay the conversation in his mind once he had hung up the phone. Traci said she was in tears and feels very blessed to have this opportunity. Traci works as a stylist at Classic Hair Designs and Nicholas is employed as a maintenance supervisor at the YMCA of the Rockies. Both have families in the area and are committed to the community.
Nicholas and Traci are already working with the building committee reviewing plans for their home. They are anxious and eager to roll up their sleeves. Work on the home will begin in March. Individuals and groups who would like to volunteer their time and labor to build the 12th Habitat For Humanity home can call 970-586-8301 and leave their name and phone number. A Habitat representative will contact you to obtain information about your availability and abilities. Typically, volunteers will work on the house on Wednesdays and/or Saturdays.
