Get Ready To Participate In National Public Lands Day


NationalPublicLandsMark your calendar! Saturday, September 26, 2009 is National Public Lands Day. Enjoy great food, meet new people, listen to live music, and best of all, work to keep our outdoor recreation areas functional and beautiful.

Pick one of five fantastic projects this year!

• Reroute the Continental Divide Trail away from motorized use in Rocky Mountain National Park.

• Clean up the Colorado River near Pumphouse.

• Create a bridge crossing Muddy Creek to the Wolford Mountain Cliff area outside of Kremmling.

• Build two new bridges and associated turnpike on a new motorized trail in Beaver Creek.

• Plant trees in Stillwater Campground.

This is Grand County’s 15th year as part of this wonderful event. Be part of the legacy! NPLD relies on volunteers of all ages, abilities and walks of life to maintain America’s Public Lands. For more information, please call Madeline Framson at 970-586-6623.

Sponsors of the event include US Forest Service, Rocky Mountain National Park, Bureau of Land Management, US  Corps of Engineers, US Dept. of Transportation, Colorado State Parks, County and Municipal Parks, Mountaineering Stores, and all kind of businesses.

Free breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided to all volunteers including free camping, accommodations, discounts, gifts, prizes, t-shirts and more! Afterward, there will be an Awards Party with live musical entertainment. All ages are welcome to participate, there is no experience needed. Transportation will be provided to all work sites. You leave with your hands loaded with gifts.
