Gear Up For More Pro Challenge Events Now Through Race Day August 24

USA-Pro-ChallengeIn celebration of the USA Pro Challenge race looping through Estes Park on August 24, the Town of Estes Park and community partners are sponsoring several community events. More information on the Pro Challenge including where in Estes Park to watch the race, when roads will close and where to park is available at www.estes.org. Be sure to join the fun at the following special events.

Two-Wheelin’ History Tours, August 9 and 10

Community members are invited to Two Wheelin’ History Tours August 9 or 10. Tours begin at the Estes Park Museum, 200 Fourth Street, at 5 p.m., returning approximately 6:30 p.m. They include sites where pioneers, settlers and adventurers made history in the Estes Valley. Registration is required; call 970-577-3762. The cost is $5 per cyclist, payable by cash or check at the tour. Cyclists must bring a bicycle, helmet and water, wear comfortable attire and be able to ride for over an hour including some hills. Breaks will be included.

Community Ride around Lake Estes and Pep Ralley for all ages, August 23

Join friends and neighbors August 23, 5 – 8 p.m. for the Community Ride around Lake Estes. This event begins and ends at the Estes Park Resort, 1700 Big Thompson Ave., and will be the official “Pep Rally” to raise excitement for the August 24 Pro Challenge professional cycling race. Join other cyclists after the ride for entertainment and family fun including bike giveaways, brats, burgers and other food for purchase, a sno-cone vendor, cash beer garden, caricature artist, yard games, bounce castle and face-painting for kids, the Estes Park High School Cheerleaders and more! Pro Challenge Race Day Events, August 24, 2013 9 a.m. Food and beverage vendors, race coverage on big screens, and a kids corral in Bond Park 9 a.m. Pancake Breakfast, Big Wheel Race and Bloody Mary Service at Bond Park 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. New Belgium Brewery beer tent, Cocktail & Whiskey Garden at Bond Park 9:30 a.m. Elkhorn Dash from U.S. Bank – Information and registration for this one-mile race at epmarathon.org 10 a.m. Kids Fun Ride & Cycling Event at Bond Park 1-4 p.m. Live music by the Archie Funker Band at Bond Park 1-2 p.m. Estimated time of USA Pro Cycle Challenge Race to pass through Estes Park 5-7 p.m. Live music by Amplified Souls at Bond Park
