Gary Lee Mitchell, 55, of Estes Park, Colorado, passed away on Thursday, June 20, 2013. Gary had been in the hospital in Denver since Early April, and had bravely battled a MRSA blood infection and a long-term heart condition.

Gary was born on May 12, 1958 in Ft. Collins, Colorado to his loving parents Helen and Bob Mitchell. He is survived by his father Bob, brothers Steve, Bill, and Jim, and his sisters Connie and Diane Mitchell.

Gary graduated from Poudre High school in 1976 and earned a BS degree from Colorado State University in business and finance. Gary has lived in Estes Park for most of his life. He served as President of Tiny Town, Inc. (Tiny Town Shell, Ice of Estes Park, and Tiny Town Golf Course). Gary’s grand parents started Tiny Town Golf in 1955. His father Bob has owned and run Tiny Town Golf since 1966. The Mitchell family was very well known in the Estes community. Those who lived in Estes knew Gary at the “Ice Man”. Gary could often be seen delivering ice, talking to customers at Tiny Town Shell gas station, or on the golf course. Gary will be dearly missed by the untold number of lives he touched, and people he helped. Gary is a hero to his family and many friends.

Gary will always be remembered for his infectious smile, amazing sense of humor, and his kind and caring nature. Gary was a friend to those in need and always slow to anger and quick to praise. He was a true friend to those in need. He was also an avid golfer, loved the Denver Broncos, and sports enthusiast.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday June 29, 2013 from 2-5 p.m. at Mary’s Lake Lodge, in Estes Park, Colorado. Visitation will be held at Allnutt Funeral Service in Estes Park on Friday June 28th 4-7 p.m., and Saturday June 29th from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Heart Association in care of Allnutt Funeral Service 1302 Graves Avenue Estes Park, CO 80517.
